Now that New York sports betting is live, it's a great weekend to make a wager with the New York Knicks taking on their hated rival Boston Celtics

The Knicks and the Celtics have been two of the most inconsistent teams in the NBA this season and would not be in the playoffs given their positions in the standings currently.

Knicks, Celtics Have Losing Record Straight Up

The Celtics are a largely disappointing 18-21 straight-up for the season. They are an even 19-19-1 against the spread (ATS) and the UNDER has a slight 21-17-1 edge in the totals. The Knicks, too, are a losing record team at 19-20 SU, 18-21 ATS, and a slight 22-17 edge to the UNDER so far this season.

The Knicks and Celtics play each other for the second time in three days. In the first game at Madison Square Garden, the Celtics blew a 25-point second-quarter lead and lost 108-105. Knicks forward R.J. Barrett won the game on a banked-in 3-pointer at the buzzer and their three-point margin of victory was the biggest lead they had in the game.

Knicks Need to Fix Shooting Woes This Time

The last-second loss was the Celtics' 11th loss of the season by five or fewer points and that leads in the NBA, tied with the Indiana Pacers for this unwanted ranking.

In the Knicks dramatic come from behind win, guard Eric Fournier scored a career-high 41 points on 15-for-25 shooting and he made 10 of his 14 3-point shots. The rest of the Knicks players struggled from the floor and, as a team, shot 44% in the win despite Fournier’s incredible night. Forward Julius Randle shot a decent 8-for-20 from the field, but 2-of-8 from beyond the arc to score 22 points.

The Over has Reigned In Series So Far

With a day off to recover from the loss, the Celtics will look to bounce back, and hold serve on their home floor. This matchup is expected to be hotly contested, with neither team getting out to more than double-digit lead. The past five games in this series have been determined by seven or fewer points and that marks the longest such streak since the 1983 season.

This is the fourth matchup this season between these two rivals. On opening night, the Knicks defeated the Celtics 138-134 and covered the spread as 2-point favorites in a double-overtime thriller. The Celtics avenged that defeat with a 114-107 home win on Dec. 18 and covered as 5.5-point favorites. All three of the games have seen the OVER win the money.

Our Picks Bucks The Trend

The revenge factor is far more meaningful in the NBA when it does involve the home-and-home two-game series between divisional rivals. Supporting the Boston effort to avenge a Knicks loss this season is a betting system that has produced a 91-52-3 ATS record good for 64% winning bets over the last five seasons. The requirements are to bet on any team that is avenging a loss in which that opponent scored 100 or more points and are coming off two consecutive losses installed as NBA betting favorites.

The UNDER is 22-9 for 71% winning bets in the second of home-and-home when the home team has lost back-to-back games installed as a favorite. Leaning to the UNDER tonight in Boston
