Betting on Florida Gators at the Las Vegas Bowl

At the time of the writing, more than 20 players have left Florida, whether it be for the NFL draft or other reasons. The key departure was starting quarterback Anthony Richardson who declared for the draft following a season in which he had two 400+ yard passing performances and more than 700 yards rushing.

With him gone, this highlights Jalen Kitna’s dismissal earlier this season because of child pornography charges and allegations. Now, the team will turn to Jack Miller III, who transferred from Ohio State. The redshirt freshman could be the future of this Billy Napier-led program.

Some other key players that’ll be sitting this one out include the following:

  • WR Justin Shorter
  • RB Nay’Quan Wright
  • DL Jalen Lee
  • OLB Brenton Cox
  • CB Avery Helm
  • OL O’Cyrus Torrence
  • DL Gervon Dexter

On offense, the Gators still have slot junior slot wide receiver Ricky Pearsall who has played relatively well this year, catching 29 passes on 54 targets for over 596 yards and five touchdowns. Some other key players that, at the time of this writing, appear ready to go are right tackle Austin Barber, running back Montrell Johnson Jr., edge rusher Princely Umanmielen, and a few more.

The Gators finished the year 6-6, just good enough for a bowl appearance. Their most notable win came against the South Carolina Gamecocks, in which they won 38-6. The Gamecocks this year beat Tennessee and Clemson, who were playoff-bound teams at the time, in back-to-back weeks.

Betting on Oregon State Beavers at the Las Vegas Bowl

While many players are exiting Florida, the No. 17 Oregon State Beavers have just a few players they’ll be without in this one. Three players will miss this game — two are transferring, and one declared for the NFL draft.

The players missing this one include quarterback Chance Nolan, tight end Luke Musgrave, and cornerback Ron Hardge III.

  • Nolan started the first five games of the season for the Beavers. He completed less than 60% of his passes and had more interceptions (8) than touchdown passes (7). He’s now in the transfer portal.
  • Musgrave declared for the NFL draft after playing in just two games. He’ll be playing in the Senior Bowl, where scouts can see what he can do, but he should be one of the first tight ends taken in the draft because of his athleticism. His injury could see him slide down boards, but he’s an excellent Day 3 athleticism-based selection.
  • Hardge III played just 45 snaps this season.

For the most part, the Beavers will be at full strength, and as the No. 17 team in the country, they sport a solid defense that ranks 31st in total yards allowed (342.2). A big part of that is the safety duo of Jaydon Grant and Kitan Oladapo.

The Beavers' offensive line has been OK in pass protection, but they excel primarily in run blocking, which has allowed Damien Martinez, a freshman, to have a monster season with 158 carries for 970 yards, seven touchdowns, and just one fumble.

Las Vegas Bowl Betting Line Tips

It always takes the wind out of the sail to see so many players miss a bowl game, but the Beavers will have a complete roster to work with.

When betting on this bowl game, make sure you’re taking advantage of the best sports betting promos so you can win even more money on your bets.

Let’s dive into the best bets for this one.

Las Vegas Bowl Predictions: Moneyline Betting Pick (Oregon State -345 at BetRivers)

The point spread on this game started at around 4 or 4.5 points with the Beavers as the favored team, but with so many players opting out, this is trending toward 11 with some sportsbooks. Miller III may have a bright future with the Gators.

Still, there’s too much working against him here, with many backups against a fully loaded Beavers team that’s one of the better defenses in the country. There’s no way the Gators will win here.

Las Vegas Bowl Predictions: Point Spread Betting Pick (Florida +10.5 at BetMGM)

While the Gators are down to their now third-string quarterback, the Beavers aren’t a pass-heavy team.

They run the ball exceptionally well, but the Gators have some players up front in Desmond Watson, Umanmielen, Tyreak Sapp, and Antwaun Powell-Ryland Jr., that have all played quite well against the run this season.

Florida has nothing to lose here as Miller, the Ohio State transfer, looks to show Napier and the coaching staff why he was recruited by the Buckeyes and what he can bring to the Gators.

Las Vegas Bowl Predictions: Over/Under Betting Pick (Under 52.5)

While the spread moved all around, the total stayed fairly static at about 52 points. The Beavers will primarily look to run the ball — quarterback Ben Gulbranson has just 175 attempts in nine games this season.

The Gators' offense will likely struggle here as they also look to run the ball. This could be a tighter game due to the run-centric offenses, thus draining the clock and giving us the under.
