Women’s World Cup 2019 Odds and USWNT Betting Guide & Tips

The excitement towards the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup is building, as the eighth edition of the showcase tournament has the oddsmakers adjusting the lines as the football betting money starts to roll in.

The tournament kicks off June 7, with the title game scheduled for July 7 in Lyon, France.

Oddsmakers have issued two sets of lines for the 24 participants vying for the hardware, with options for the overall winner and odds to finish in the top 4.

The Favorites

When the draw was finalized in December the line setters originally slated the United States as the favorites to take their 4th title at +225.

Things have changed since then, and now the line setters show France and the U.S tied on top of the table at +350 respectively, with the hosts getting some favoritism as the opening kickoff for June 7 draws near.

Ironically, the USWNT opened at -200 to take first position in Group F and that has only risen to -400 despite their decline to win the cup outright.

While the line on the USWNT has fallen to make them co-favorites with France, the lines for both Germany and England have moved up from where they originated as well. Germany opened at +500 and is now listed at +450, meanwhile England came out with a +900 line that has climbed up to +700.

Germany might not have it so easy with Spain as part of their group this year, as Spain was the only club that went a perfect 8 - 0 in UEFA WC qualifying to land in group B. Spain could be a nice sleeper choice to make the final four with a price of +400 attached to the action, and there will be some takers towards that +700 on Espana to win their group outright at Sugarhouse Sportsbook.

The Underdogs

Group C might end up being the wildest and most wide open of the 6 groups, and there is value in any option on the board. Australia and Brazil are both listed at +115 to take the top spot from the group, and Italy isn’t far behind at +400 respectively.

What’s noticeable here is that Australia is listed at +225 to land in the final four of this year’s World Cup, while Brazil and Italy are well in back of them at +450 and +750 respectively. That might suggest that Australia should be where you put your money to take group C top honors, with expectation to go deep into the tournament.

Group D has both Japan and England together, and the two clubs will meet on the final day of group stage to likely decide who takes the top spot in the group. Japan has competed in every Women’s World Cup tournament and England doesn’t have much of a history to speak of at the event.

England finally escaped the quarterfinals in 2015 for the first time ever, and it led to a third-place finish in Canada. Japan has a World Cup trophy from 2011 and were runners-up in 2015 to the USWNT, so they will be ready to go without doubt.

Group E features Canada and the Netherlands, and these two Nations are assuredly headed towards a battle for the top spot. Their meeting on day 3 of group stage will likely decide who earns the position and in reading into those lines the Netherlands are favored at +105 to win group C, although Canada is right there with them at +120.

The Netherlands, however, are among the top-5 favorites to win the entire tournament at +1200, while Canada sits well back of them at +2800 to hoist the trophy.
