More than 28 years since "Happy Gilmore" hit the big screen, a sequel has been confirmed by Netflix.

Adam Sandler is set to reprise the titular character, an unsuccessful ice hockey player who discovers he has a talent for golf and competes in a tournament to raise money and save his grandmother's house.

The original featured Christopher McDonald as antagonist golfer Shooter McGavin, and Carl Weathers as Happy's coach and mentor Derick "Chubbs" Peterson, who helped him win the Tour Championship.

News of the movie has led to speculation on the best online betting sites about which pro golfers might make appearances or short cameos in the film, especially with Netflix having their own golf show - "Full Swing."

Tiger's Big Screen Role

Tiger Woods is still playing in pro golf tournaments, but it's fair to say he is in the latter stages of his career now.

Should he have an eye on a move to movies, then perhaps he could register his interest in a "Happy Gilmore 2" role?

Woods is -137.5 to be the most likely pro golfer to appear in the film, and he could be the ideal star to take on the Chubbs-like part.

Sadly, Weathers won't be reprising it after he passed away in February aged 76, and TV presenter Bob Barker will also miss out after he passed away last year at age 99.

The "Price is Right" host played himself in the 1996 original, in which he had an altercation with Sandler's titular character.

DeChambeau For Shooter Part?

McDonald recently hinted he would very much be up for reprising his role and even revealed he had been shown a draft screenplay of the sequel.

On the podcast "The Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima," he said, "I saw Adam about two weeks ago, and he says to me, 'McDonald, you're gonna love this.'

"I said, 'What?' He says, 'How about that', and he shows me the first draft of 'Happy Gilmore 2.'

"I don't wanna be a liar, but he did show me that, and I thought, 'Well, that would be awesome.'"

With McDonald likely to return, this could pave the way for a pro golfer to play a younger version of no-nonsense star golfer Shooter.

Bryson DeChambeau is +100 to appear in the movie, while Scottie Scheffler (+200) and Rory McIlroy (+250) could also be in the conversation.

What's more, pro golfer Will Zalatoris (+300) has drawn comparisons to Jared Van Snellenberg's character, Happy's caddie at the Waterbury Open, with several on social media tipping him for a part in the movie.

Pro golfer Paige Spiranac has also fuelled speculation she could be cast in the film.

The +1000 chance previously posted a picture on Instagram of herself in white lingerie while holding two beers, in an apparent nod to the movie's "Happy Place" scene, which featured Julie Bowen as Happy's romantic interest Virginia Venit.

Fallon Evens For Fight Scene

Should "Happy Gilmore 2" feature a fight scene like the first film, then there could be several chat show hosts in line to portray a Barker-like character.

Jimmy Fallon is +100 on betting apps to get the nod, and he is no stranger to the film after previously taking on McIlroy in a Happy Gilmore putting challenge when the golfer was a guest on his "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" in 2019.

Fellow chat show hosts Jimmy Kimmel (+200), Steve Harvey (+300), and Conan O'Brien (+400) will no doubt be in the conversation, too, and former "The Late Late Show" presenter James Corden (+600) could provide some United  Kingdom representation in the movie.

Donald Trump Appearance Odds

Former U.S. President Donald Trump could even make a cameo.

Trump is a huge golf fan and is just -150 to make an appearance in the movie, while it's +150 he sticks to politics.
