Celebrity Traitors Odds: Courteney Cox Favourite To Appear On The Show
The Traitors has arguably already been one of the TV highlights of the year so far, and there has been talk of a celebrity version hitting our screens.
Hollywood publication Deadline have reported that the BBC will commission a celebrity version of the hit show to be aired in 2025 with the promise of 'the most star-studded reality TV cast ever.'
This follows a report in The Sun newspaper in January, that reported The Traitors bosses were on the lookout for "big names" to appear in a celebrity version of the show, and that they may have found their first contestant.
They reported that Friends actress Courteney Cox has been lined up as the Celebrity Traitors' first cast member, and she is now odds-on on betting sites to join the programme.
Courteney is good friends with the show's host Claudia Winkleman, and has even appeared in a video promoting the programme.
In April 2023, the BBC posted a video of Courteney wearing a Traitors cloak, and she could be seen saying to the TV presenter: "Claudia, can I please do it?"
But Claudia jokingly replied: "I’ve said this to you before, it’s a no. You cannot apply if you are a celebrity, or if you’re as famous as this one."
The clip was to encourage people to apply for the second series of the hit show, which was won by Traitor Harry Clark, who scooped the whole £95,150 jackpot after deceiving his fellow contestants.
The show sees contestants split into groups of Faithful and Traitors, and the aim of the game is for the Faithful to work out who the Traitors are.
Each night the Traitors are able to "murder" one of the Faithful, but beforehand the whole group meet in roundtable banishments to send one of their co-stars home.
Courteney Signing Could Lead To Other Big Names
According to The Sun's source, Traitors bosses would have a "real coup" if they landed the US actress, and it could lead to a similar calibre of stars joining the first-ever Celebrity Traitors.
A TV insider told the publication: "Getting Courteney on board would be a real coup.
"The fact the producers have a star from Friends in their sights shows the kind of calibre of famous faces Celebrity Traitors is aiming for.
Omg. According to reports, the BBC ARE asking celebrities to take part in a ‘star studded edition’ of #TheTraitors later this year… and COURTENEY COX is *actually* looking to sign up 👀 pic.twitter.com/2ykKD40oWn

"After the show was announced, producers were swamped with calls from big names and their agents wanting to throw their hat in the ring - many of them a big surprise.
"Courteney has always been a fan of the show, particularly as the British version has her mate Claudia fronting it."
Claudia's pal Courteney is the 4/6 favourite on specials betting sites to be part of a Celebrity Traitors cast, while it is 6/4 she is joined in the Scottish castle by Rebekah Vardy.
One mouth-watering prospect would be if Wagatha Christie pair Vardy and Coleen Rooney renewed their rivalry on a celebrity version of The Traitors.
It doesn't look too likely to happen, with Coleen out at 6/1, but if she did sign up she would be the perfect Faithful, after already proving herself as the master of a social media whodunnit, when she accused Rebekah of leaking details of her private life to the press.
Coleen was sued for libel by Rebekah - in a feud that was dubbed "Wagatha Christie" by the media - but Coleen won the court case, and claimed she had always "stuck to [her] truth", while Rebekah has always maintained her innocence.
Traitors Celebrity Fans To Take Part?
Following the success of the second series of The Traitors, the show now boasts a huge number of celebrity fans.
Among those are 1975 frontman Matt Healy, who is 7/1 to swap the stage for a Scottish castle, while radio and TV presenting legend Zoe Ball is an 8/1 chance.
Politicians have also recently been keen to take part in reality TV shows, with both Matt Hancock and Nigel Farage entering the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! jungle in the last couple of years.
Former Health Secretary Matt - who also took part in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins - is 2/1 to become a Celebrity Traitors cast member, while it's 5/2 former Brexit Party leader Nigel joins the show.
Another Marmite piece of casting would see 10/1 chance on betting apps Piers Morgan on a celebrity version of the series.
Claudia To Recruit A-List Star?
If Courteney joins the Celebrity Traitors cast, then that could tempt the likes of A-list actor Andrew Garfield into joining the show.
The Amazing Spider-Man actor is a 12/1 outsider on new betting sites to be part of the programme, but Claudia has previously admitted she would love to see him in a celebrity version of the show.
The presenter is also keen to see the likes of writer and presenter Victoria Coren Mitchell (4/1) - the wife of comedian David Mitchell (4/1) - EastEnders actor Adam Woodyatt (6/1), and national treasure Stephen Fry (9/1) take part.
