Nico Williams Next Club Odds: Arsenal Favourites To Sign Spanish Star

Nico Williams has been lighting up the European Championship, and the UK betting sites expect there will be plenty of post-tournament transfer interest in the Spain international.

The 21-year-old has been a revelation for Luis de la Fuente’s side in Germany. Spain have combined their traditional passing style with a new directness on the flanks provided by the Athletic Bilbao man and Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal.

Williams scored a fantastic goal in the 4-1 victory over Georgia to help Spain through to the quarter-finals, where they will face the hosts.

Beyond the Euros, Williams is sure to be the subject of offers from some of the continent’s biggest clubs. Where might he end up?

We have analysed the leading contenders for his signature using the latest odds provided by betting apps.

Arsenal And Chelsea Could Benefit From Williams

Arsenal are the 2/1 favourites to sign Williams this summer. After narrowly missing out on the Premier League title last term, the Gunners will be determined to beef up their squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Gabriel Martinelli had his ups and downs last season and Williams would provide an alternative on the left. He has already been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent weeks.

Chelsea have also been spoken of as a potential destination for Williams, who has a £49m release clause in his contract with Athletic Bilbao.

Overly reliant on Cole Palmer in 2023/24, Chelsea will need to take some of the burden off the England international in the upcoming campaign.

However, the west Londoners need to balance the books in order to comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules. Chelsea are priced at 9/4 with football betting sites.

Liverpool And Barcelona Could Launch Move For Winger

The Jurgen Klopp era is over at Anfield, with Arne Slot now in charge at Anfield.

There is also a new recruitment team in place and Williams is bound to be one name under consideration, with the Athletic Bilbao starlet listed at 3/1 to move to Merseyside.

Liverpool are pretty well stocked in attack, however, with Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota all competing for places.

Barcelona are available at 5/1. They may have an advantage in that the Blaugrana can offer Williams the chance to stay in La Liga, where he has spent his entire career to date.

But Barcelona are once again beset by financial issues that could shape their summer business. Reports suggest significant incomings are on hold until the club can start to shift some of their enormous debt.

Manchester United And Paris Saint-Germain In The Mix

Erik ten Hag has been retained by Manchester United, but he needs a fast start to the new season to have any chance of a long-term stay at Old Trafford.

United were poor going forward last season and Ten Hag will no doubt want to sign more attackers this summer.

United are 13/2 to win the race for Williams. Much will depend on the future of Marcus Rashford, who prefers playing on the left (just like the Spaniard) but the England international has been linked with a move away.

Paris Saint-Germain are supposedly interested in Rashford, but they could be tempted to turn their attention to Williams as they seek a successor to Kylian Mbappe, who is finally on his way to Real Madrid. PSG are available at 8/1.

Tottenham And Bayern Munich Are Outsiders

Tottenham could do with a one-versus-one specialist out wide as they prepare for a second season under Ange Postecoglou, but the north Londoners are 10/1 outsiders to land Williams.

Their absence from the Champions League could prove problematic given the strong interest from elsewhere.

That is not an issue for Bayern Munich, who are also a long shot at 12/1. However, there is no indication at present that the German giants are considering an offer for the Spaniard.

One thing that all of Williams’ suitors need to bear in mind is that the player himself appears to be in no rush to leave his boyhood club.

“I'm a 21-year-old kid who just wants to play football. I have already said that Athletic is my home,” he said last month. “I only recently renewed [my contract, until 2027]. I am very happy.”
