Glastonbury 2025 Odds: Who Will Headline And Play The Legends Slot?

Glastonbury 2024 has slammed its gates shut following an epic weekend of sublime performances, celebrity cameos and even some royal approval.

One of the standout moments of the weekend down at Worthy Farm included Back to the Future star Michael J Fox joining Coldplay on stage during their headline set on the Saturday night.

Other highlights included Princess Beatrice partying at the iconic festival, an energetic 'Legends' slot performance by Shania Twain, and how the crowds flocked in their droves to see Avril Lavigne and Sugababes.

While the grass begins to gradually grow back at Worthy Farm, Glastonbury fans have already started thinking about next year's history-makers.

There has been plenty of speculation on UK betting sites as to who will headline Glastonbury 2025, and who might fill next year's Sunday afternoon 'Legends' slot.

Taylor's Swift UK Return?

One sigh of relief for Glastonbury goers will no doubt be hearing festival organiser Emily Eavis has confirmed next year's festival will go ahead, after she revealed the music extravaganza will take a year off in 2026 to "give the land a rest", rather than next year.

But that means fitting a lot into 2025's spectacle.

Emily told the Glastonbury Free Press: "The festival before a fallow year is always a fun one to plan because you almost have to fit two years into one.

"We're already in talks with some acts for it. It's exciting."

Taylor Swift super-fans will no doubt be praying that Emily and her father Michael Eavis have been locked in discussions with the Shake It Off hitmaker.

She was all set to perform at Worthy Farm in 2020, but that year's festival was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, Taylor is now Evens favourite to headline the iconic Pyramid Stage next year, followed closely by Eminem, who is 5/4 on specials betting sites

Last month, the US rapper was tipped to headline the festival in 2025.

A source told The Sun newspaper at the time: "It’s been a long time coming but finally, after years of trying, Emily could be about to get her wish.

"It’s by no means a done deal but with a successful comeback in motion a huge headline slot next year makes sense."

Taylor's ex Harry Styles is 3/1 to headline the Pyramid Stage in 2025, and other megastars who could be in contention include Rihanna (2/1) and 5/2 chance Madonna, who, at one stage, was heavily rumoured to be headlining this year's Glasto.

This year's spectacle spawned plenty of positive news stories, but one blot on the copybook was perhaps R&B star SZA's Sunday night headline slot.

Some who were there took to social media to claim the attendance seemed to be much smaller than the usual Sunday night headline acts.

If Emily Eavis wants to avoid that next year, she could do worse than book up one of this year's impressive crowd pleasers.

An estimated 70,000 fans flocked to the Other Stage to see pop-punk princess Avril Lavigne perform her greatest hits, and the Complicated hitmaker's crowd was so large security had to stop people from entering the field, according to The Guardian newspaper.

And, like for Avril, Glastonbury organisers had to restrict actress to the West Holts Stage when Sugababes performed this year. Both are 5/1 to be upgraded to Pyramid Stage headliners for 2025.

Spice Up Your Festival

But if Glastonbury organisers need to effectively fit two festivals into one, then one band who knows all about what happens when 2 Become 1 is Spice Girls.

The clamber for Glasto tickets next year would go into serious overdrive if the pop legends signed up to headline the music festival, and they have even hinted about a possible appearance.

Just this week, Spice Girls member Mel B - who appeared at this year's Glastonbury alongside Orbital on the Park Stage - admitted she would love "nothing more" than to reunite with the girls and perform at Glastonbury.

Speaking to Chris Moyles on Radio X, she said: "I think the absolute ultimate would be to do it with the Spice Girls. There’s nothing I would like more."

Spice Girls are just 7/4 on new betting sites to be one of the three headliners on the bill next year, while other big bands who could perform include Radiohead (8/1), or how about a reunion for Oasis?

The Live Forever hitmakers are still yet to have reunited since warring brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher were involved in a huge backstage bust-up at the group's final concert, at Paris' Rock en Seine festival in 2009.

Despite this, Oasis reunion rumours continue to grow, and the speculation increased recently when Liam hit the road for his Definitely Maybe Tour, in which he performed the band's debut album in full.

Oasis maybe 33/1 outsiders, but Liam himself is a 6/1 shot to headline next year's Glastonbury, and his pals Foo Fighters (7/2) could also do a job on the Pyramid Stage, as could legendary US band Bon Jovi (10/1), or American singer-songwriter Billy Joel (12/1).

Cher To Turn Back Time At Glasto?

Bon Jovi or Joel could still hold their own on the Pyramid Stage, and it's true they could also be considered for the 'Legends' slot, which has become an annual must-see at Glastonbury.

While Joel and Bon Jovi are 4/1 and 5/1 respectively to fill it next year, they look to have some strong competition to follow in Shania Twain's footsteps

Cher is the current market leader at 6/4 on betting apps. The If I Could Turn Back Time hitmaker could do just that down at Worthy Farm, and she has fuelled such speculation recently.

In December, Cher was asked on BBC Radio 2 whether she will ever play the 'Legends' slot at Glastonbury, and she replied: "I'd like to!"

Other stars who could be in the conversation include Fleetwood Mac frontwoman Stevie Nicks (2/1) and singer Gabrielle (5/2), who dreams of playing at the festival.

Last month, she told BANG Showbiz: "Glastonbury is something that I watch on TV, but something I’ve never done.

"That Glastonbury slot is the one I want, that’s probably my lifetime ambition to do that set."

Kate Bush (3/1) and Sheryl Crow (9/2) would also be popular choices, as would Annie Lennox (6/1), or even one of this year's fan favourites - Sugababes (7/1).

Asked about the group possibly playing the 'Legends' slot, Mutya Buena joked: "Quite soon - it'll happen."
