USA Vs Uruguay: The Panel's Picks & Predictions For Monday's Copa America Clash

The Panel's Copa America Picks

The United States's all-or-nothing clash with Uruguay in Group C is the eyecatching encounter at the Copa America on Monday night.

The US need a result, and preferably a win, against Uruguay at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City at 9pm ET on FS1.

The Americans are a slight +150 moneyline favorites to grab a much-need three points, but Uruguay have already clinched the top spot in Group C with two resounding wins.

The US and Uruguay have played eight matches overall, but only two have come in recent times: the first ended in a 1-1 draw in 2019 and the second ended in a 0-0 draw in 2022.

With Uruguay already through, the emphasis will be on the home team to get the result they need to progress.

The Panel has looked at all the stats, data and key players ahead of Monday's clash to bring you these three predictions with sports betting sites.

America In A Tough Spot

The United States came into the tournament with plenty of hope but then disaster struck.

Early in the Panama match, Tim Weah was sent off and, though the USA scored soon after, Panama dominated the Americans, who only had ten men.

From there, Panama scored twice and won the match, which sets them up to play a Bolivia team that has lost by multiple goals in both efforts in the Copa.

Now the Americans need a result because, if Panama lose, the Americans could still advance with a defeat, but that seems unlikely.

The pressure is squarely on the Americans here with Uruguay having nothing really to play for, that's why best betting sites are still leaning slightly toward the United States.

That +150 number on the moneyline for the Americans is not the most appealing and, though Uruguay will be without their manager, their counter attack is one of the best around.

Matt Turner is still “limited in training,” and his status is unclear for Monday night. If he cannot play, goals are going to be needed.

Even so, The Panel believes both teams will score on Monday night.

Panel Pick 1: Both Teams To Score -118 With DraftKings

Scoreboard Pressure Could Bring Goals

The fans, players and staff will be scoreboard watching when it comes to the Bolivia vs. Panama match, which is also taking place on Monday night.

DraftKings have some intriguing numbers for the Over of 2.5 goals while USA to win 2-1 (+675) could have some legs. However, going for a bit of insurance with the Over is not a bad plan.

An early first goal is expected to set the tone and as we've seen with some Euro 2024 matches, the initial marker increases the urgency.

Like Spain yesterday when Georgia shockingly scored first. No one is expecting that response, but a few more goals are likely.

There is also a nice Christian Pulisic odds boost for him to score the first goal on Monday night at +650 with Caesars, but our pick here is for at least three goals.

The Panel Pick 2: United States and Uruguay Over 2.5 Goals +118 With Fanduel

Only Goals Can Save US

This Uruguay team tends to concentrate on the counterattack, which is the most dangerous part of their offense and could catch the US defense napping.

Put simply, it's time for the players to perform. They support and fight for their coach, but now it's time to win on home soil and advance.

If the United States can score at least a couple of goals it will give them a better chance to advance to the next round - otherwise there will be no second chance.
